Chase variants and grails

The one in the case, not the one on the shelf. Chase variants ship in the same cases as their common counterparts at roughly one in six, which is exactly why they cost multiples of the standard figure and why the sticker gets photographed close enough to read.

A chase is not a different product code — it is the same figure with an altered finish and a sticker saying so. That makes verification simple in principle and easy to fudge in practice, so anything listed as a chase here has to show the sticker and the finish difference in its photos.

Grails are a looser category: the piece a particular collector has been hunting for years, whether or not the manufacturer called it rare. Vaulted figures, low print runs and pieces that simply never come up for sale end up here alongside the official chases.

Frequently asked questions

How rare is a chase?

Roughly one in six units of the same figure, though ratios vary by line and some are far scarcer. That single fact is what drives the price gap against the common version.

How do I tell a chase from the common version?

Look for the chase sticker on the box and the finish change — usually glitter, a glow paint, or a colour swap. Both are visible in our listing photos; if a listing does not show them, it is not sold as a chase.

Are chases worth more than exclusives?

Sometimes. Chases are limited by ratio, exclusives by print run — which is scarcer depends on the specific figure. Compare recent sales for both before deciding.
